DUAL Card Slot Writing on Kinefinity MAVO Edge 8K

New Mavo Edge 8K owner here. Love this forum!

Am I correct in understanding that simultaneous/dual card slot writing is not possible? Haven’t seen it in the manual - and can’t find it in the menu. If this in’t possible now is this something that a future firmware update can provide?

Minos correct. It’s not an option yet. Hopefully something like ProRes Proxy or H.26x will become a secondary option in time.

Currently as @iiiNelson has stated its not possible, but we expect a new fw anytime soon which got delayed a bit, with a lot of promising features. proxy recording however and pre-roll recording are only coming to this camera somewhere around april this yea (kinefinity says march so we add a month to be more realistic)

I just experienced this on a shoot - the SSD reached capacity and camera stopped recording half-way through a take - however the .mov was completely unusable in the edit. Definitely needs to be fixed!

Thanks everyone for the responses. I’m preparing a shoot and have selected the PRORES 4444 codec to use at 4K (OG) which yields 92 minutes. I anticipate this to be more than what we need per day. So simultaneous recording would save some time/effort on backups. But no biggie. Hopefully this feature is updated soon.
@Jerome I am based in New York City but am originally from Cyprus so I shoot here a lot. I’m back and forth basically.

@reelmedia that’s not good - thanks for the heads up! It sounds like you’re saying the camera doesn’t switch slots automatically when a card fills up + the file which is recording at the time of capacity becomes corrupted?

Hi there - prepping for a shoot in 2 weeks and coming back to this thread re: proxies. Does anyone know if they available on the latest firmware?

Hey Minos,

Sadly this is not implemented, we see a lot of great features in a fw we are testing now, including extensive playback menu and the camera operating in hotspot mode (can use it without the app without secundary network), We will ask next week during our conference call about proxies. Hopefully you have a good proxy workflow in Resolve, if you need help with that we are here to assist for the best possible post prouction proxy workflow!
