HarshMahadeshwar Hey welcome on our forum!
Cine lenses are way less convenient to be used with anamorphic adapters. here are a few reasons
- cine lenses are quite heavy due to their housings
- cine lenses do not extend when focussing from infinity to close focus which means that their housings are much longer than so called โ pjhoto lensesโ which extend when focussing. When looking for โ taking โ lenses for anamorphic adapter, we look for lens blocks which have their front optics sit quite up front and not deep like some macro lenses. To get to a deeper understanding. every lens has a point of conversion, the last point where the image is inverted which we call the focal length. When using a anamorphoic scope and we aim to find a wide lens that doesnt vignet in conjunction with the scope, we look for lenses like pancake designs, which have the front of the lens relatively close to their focal point. When you dont want to go super wide you can get away with the Ultra primes , because the Aivascope has its own rod support, so no real need to clamp it to the ultra primes, but for the best possible experience both a rod support an dscrew on or other way of mounting to the aivascope will be better.
Cine the ultra primes are amazing lenses, I would love to couple them with anamorphic adapters, the only way to get a small footprint, and a good wide angle, is to find a lens engineer, who can take the optical block out of the housing, and collimate it to infinity, and put a pl mount. So if you really want there is a way!
