Anamorphic Images and Sensor Sizes

Hey guys, first time post.
I was doing some testing on Varicam and Komodo. And I was noticing how the field of view on the two cameras is different and also the way the aivacsope renders an image is different.
The Komodo is wider and taller has a little more distortion on the edges. Is there a way to get this kind of similar look on the Varicam? Would a wider lens create the same aesthetics?

I really like how the Komodo handles 1.5x. Is it possible to get that same effect on Varicam?

Or does the substrate size dictate everything and cant be changed by lens.

Any help would be greatly appreciated, as I plan on using these two cameras for a project in the near future, and would like to be able to keep the field of view close. Or if they can’t be matched, then I need to plan accordingly.

Komodo is 27.03 mm x 14.26 mm = 1.89 aspect
Varicam is 24.6mm x 12.9mm = 1.90 aspect

So in terms of aspect about thd same. Now zoom in the komodo by around 111 % and the frames should be identical. Or ad an example put a 45mm lens on the komodo and a 40mm on the varicam and angle of view will be matched.

Understood. Is there a lens that can go wider than 35mm on the Varicam/Aivascope v2?
Maybe Olympus M.Zuiko 28mm. I don’t know of any lens in between 28 and 35, that could get them close for wide shots.

Yes 28m. Should be possible! With what aspect ratio do you want to finish?

Hey! Ideally I’d like to finish in 2.39:1. I like a little bit wider image.
I’ll have a 28mm Zuiko in a few days, then I’ll do some more testing.
Would the newer Aivascope with the larger rear element help with more wider angle taking lenses?
