I have the 1st Generation Mavo s35 camera and I recently discovered a budget friendly wireless transmitter from Vrriis which I wanted to pair with my camera. We used a few of their transmitters on set for another shoot and I found they worked really well with signal, even in studio, with low latency, and I was impressed with their solution for smaller film sets.
Unfortunately, when I used the transmitter I bought with my Kinefinity, the transmission signal outputs with a green cast/overlay over the entire image. This was true no matter what cable I used, no matter what monitor I used, and even using the UVC (USB-C) out directly to the computer. If I looped out from the TX (Kinefinity-to-TX-to-Monitor) I didn’t have this issue, but any attempt to send signal wirelessly resulted in this green overlay; even from Kinefinity-to-monitor-to-TX.
My fujifilm (hdmi micro) worked absolutely fine. So it seems to not be a problem with the TX/RX, but in somehow the signal being output from the kinefinity to the TX and then wirelessly. In reaching out to the transmitter company, they had no solutions, and there’s no way to update the firmware or change settings. Even changing channels didn’t do anything.
Since the 1st generation Mavo is seemingly no longer supported, I’m not holding out for any sort of firmware update, but here are my questions after trying absolutely everything:
- Has anyone ever experienced this with a wireless transmitter/monitor with the kinefinity? Was there a fix?
- Is there a problem with all wireless transmitters paired with the kinefinity? Does anyone have experience pairing it with any of the industry brands like Hollyland, Teradek, or even the Feelworld?
My next goal is to try an SDI-to-HDMI converter. Unsure if that would help, but it’s worth a shot.
As a side note, it’s a shame the US online website as well as US store has been shutdown. Seems even the old forum was abandoned? The lack of support is disappointing and I wish it were easier to get updates or contact anyone when there are issues. I’m guessing we’ll never get a firmware update for the 1st generation cameras? I’ll just use it till it dies?
