MAVO Edge 8k/6k in 2026?

I’m considering investing in a set of MAVOs for an upcoming doc I’m producing. Looking at either two Edge 8k’s or an 8k and 6k. I’ve never used this camera but the images I’ve seen look better than many newer cameras around the same price. The form factor and mount options are also hard to beat. Interested in hearing from experienced users on longterm performance and how they feel about these cameras in 2026?

NathanSacharow hey where are you located? Do you need the e-nd internally otherwise the mark2 cameras from Kinefinity are also worth looking at. The edge 8k however (our favorite) doesn’t come in a cheaper model, but we can always find you a deal for a battle tested with extended warranty

Jerome I’m located in the US. I need at least one camera with an e-nd. My interest in the 6k was the better low light performance. Do you know if Kinefinity is still planning to release the Edge 8k mk II and when that might be?

I own both the Edge 6K and Edge 8K. Previously I had the Mavo LF for 3 years. I’ve shot 4 feature docs, and 3 narrative features on the Edge 6K, using the Edge 8K as my B-Cam. I would absolutely recommend the Edge 6K as your A cam, as the low light capabilities are extremely helpful in doc situations. My Edge 6K has been with me in Thailand, India, Switzerland, Italy, Bangladesh, Alaska in both extreme humidity and extreme cold temperatures. I’ve had my Edge 6K since November December 2022 and the Edge 8K since October 2022. The cameras are both still working great for me.

I’ve been shooting more with the Edge 8K lately because I spent so much time shooting on the Edge 6K. I always prefer the Edge 8K lately because I can shoot 4K DCI as opposed to 4K UHD.

The only difference between the two is going to be in the native ISO. Edge 6K has 800 ISO, Edge 8K is 640 ISO.

I’ve shot 3 narrative features and 3 feature documentaries with the Edge 6K but that has been for the low light capabilities.

I have been using the Edge 8K more lately for commercials and short narrative and documentary interviews.
