RichardOsborne Hello Please can we get some HDR luts for the Kinefinity Mavo Edge 8k. Rec 709 is a very old and limited container for the quality of this camera. Having a monitoring and display lut for HLG and PQ is very essential for the future. Please see commentary from Smpte and Australian Cinematography Society. https://www.smpte.org/webcast/dr-pq-and-hlg-presented-bbc https://www.newsshooter.com/2022/09/26/hdr-cinematography/
Jerome RichardOsborne no problem. However 99.9% still uses rec709. We can render out a rec2020 lut next week. Would that do? If you need a very nice hdr worlflow use arri lut creator. https://www.arri.com/en/learn-help/learn-help-camera-system/tools/lut-generator Then simpe make one node before this lut and add our lut (gafpa kinelog to log c) and you are done!
RichardOsborne Yes that would be great thank you Jerome! HDR is becoming alot more important in our work. I’ll try that over the weekend and get back to you next week
Jerome RichardOsborne did you found a solution. again, its very simple. just use our log transforms, and you end up with the same image as arri, and from there you can use any hdr workflow designed for a arri camera. please let us know if you need more help with this
RichardOsborne Hi Jerome Thanks for your help! I’ll get back to you in December or January. I’m just waiting to buy a JVC projector for our group cinema. Then I can test out real HDR tone mapping and use HDR properly with JVC´s wide dynamic range in the blacks and highlights.
Jerome Borja_Campillo findings are simple. once you add our 65 cube log transform, the footage can be treated the same as alexa footage, so any hdr workflow will work.
Borja_Campillo Nice. My knowledge on HDR post is very limited, I am wondering if you can recommend some information on how to start post to master for HDR, different options basically anything besides rec709 would be greatly appreciated
