Interesting, I appreciate it. I did not know about the rec2020 target. And especially good to know the LUT preserves the full dynamic range. There must have been some misperception because as I understood it dynamic range was the main reason not to use the LUT as a base for the final grade. (FYI, we were using the GAFPA_LOGC+0 LUT for the MavoLF.)
We actually didn’t want to do a custom grade. We were very happy with the feel we got from the LUT. Going into the grading, we thought we would just refine, restore the full dynamic range (😅), fix some lighting issues, preserve continuity, etc. In fact we often used the Offline as a reference, but we struggled to match it.
