I am just getting familiar with Dehancer, it seems quite impressive and I plan to spend a bit more time with the demo and samples before making my purchase decision. For those of you who use it, I have a question. There has been a lot of increasing demand in the past few years for lenses with character as opposed to optical perfection. Subsequently, prior to learning of Dehancer I invested in some of these “character” lenses (both old and new) and am quite happy with them, particularly on Arri sensors. However, if I am looking to add a subtle treatment using Dehancer (the examples I see are often a bit too much for my applications, so I would like to dial it back a bit for delivery), how much does a “character” lens matter? Qualities such as bloom, halation, filmic color, etc. seem to be dialed back in reasonably well with Dehancer. This same factor has motivated me to stay away from some optically “perfect” lenses (particularly Fujinon zooms - I shoot a lot of docs) because I am concerned they will look very boring in the edit and color process. But with Dehancer, perhaps I can bring new personality to footage shot with the Fujinons. Thoughts?
