Just want to say, I agree with Jerome that the edge 8k sensor is very special. Colors are incredible and blacks are rich. If you are picky the 2nd native needs some denoising but I find the texture is quite nice despite having some color noise. In a narrative context I don’t feel any denoising is required, maybe for commercial applications.
I usually roll my eyes when people compare digital noise to film, but in this case it isn’t that far off the truth. The noise at 2560 is very very similar to the grain in portra 800 or cinestill 800t in 6×6 or 6×7 format, and free from color blocking artifacts.
This may be because I am only shooting in oversampled 4k, which definitely helps in terms of file size. if you’ve shot with a canon c100 you know that the 1080p it produces is more like 2k in terms of detail, same thing with the edge 8k in 4K, only the quality from the edge in 444 is vastly superior.
but this is just one persons opinion 😉
